Job Presentation

The Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR), an independent, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting and protecting democracy and human rights—primarily civil and political rights—across Cambodia, is seeking a dynamic and professional candidate for the following position. This role is part of the "Protecting Fundamental Freedoms, Land, and Natural Resources in Cambodia" project (PFFLN). It will be based in Phnom Penh, from August 2024 to September 2028.

Salary: USD 616 –820 gross per month (depending on qualifications and professional experience), as well as employee benefits.

Duties

  • Oversee the collection of data from media monitoring and incident reports, and conduct an initial analysis of the data compiled;
  • Conduct legal research under the direction of the Project team;
  • Work with the project team with the collection of data by conducting surveys and interviews;
  • Provide translation of project publication (Khmer into English and vice versa);
  • Assist the Project team with documentation and file management;
  • Document, monitor and update cases supported by the project and coordinate cases with clients properly and efficiently;
  • Organize events including focus group discussions, CSO quarterly meeting, stakeholder meetings, and other project events etc;
  • Work with the project coordinators in developing written materials and multimedia information, and other publications;
  • Monitor trial and hearings of legal cases supported by the project and other human rights cases when necessary;
  • Monitor events related to the exercise of fundamental freedoms, as assigned by CCHR’s
  • Management Committee;
  • Assist with the drafting of narrative reports and annual narrative reports; and
  • Complete other tasks assigned by the project coordinator/organization.

Requirements

  • University degree in human rights, law or Social Sciences related degree;
  • At least 2 years’ experiences working on human rights related issues especially fundamental freedom;
  • Experience in producing advocacy materials, data collections, data interpretation and presentation;
  • Experience in coordinating human rights cases;
  • Knowledge of international and domestic law related to human rights and strong knowledge of the civil and political rights;
  • Fluency in written and spoken Khmer and English;
  • Strong computer literacy (including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, of the Internet and Email, Power Points, and Designing);
  • Be able to work independently and in a team with high levels of responsibility;
  • Be able to share knowledge and experiences of work within the team work and work independently;
  • Demonstrated interested in Human rights/ Human rights defenders/ Activists.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure on challenging and sensitive issues;
  • Ability to think strategically; and experience in report writing.
