AusCam Freedom Project (AusCam) is a non-profit organisation headquartered in Sydney, Australia with a Country Office in Phnom Penh. We believe every girl deserves to be free from trafficking and exploitation so we have a mission to intervene to protect girls from sexual exploitation, then provide safe space for them to build their skills and confidence and create positive change. We actively protect and empower adolescent girls through crisis intervention, educational support, counselling, training and mentoring.
Position Summary
This is a 1 year internship. We hope to be able to turn it into a full time role, but cannot guarantee this. The Communication Intern supports the development and implementation of communication resources and activities to raise awareness and prevent Online Child Sexual Exploitation (OCSE) and promote the brand, reputation and work of AusCam Freedom Project. Reporting to the Communication Facilitator, the Communication Intern will support volunteer Change Agents to further raise awareness and prevent OCSE and build a brand. .
Duties
- Craft Compelling Captions: Interview participants and observe events to develop engaging captions for social media posts that resonate with our audience. You will be able to use AI tools to support your English language communications ability.
- Create Quality Content: Produce high-quality digital and audio-visual materials, including photos, videos, posters, flyers, and animations, to effectively communicate our brand. We mostly use Canva to generate graphics and presentations. We are looking for creativity and ability to tell a story with a picture.
- Enhance Reach and Engagement: Track and record all of social media reach and engagement, and then feedback the analysis, progress and lessons to all of the youth who are posting online, so that they can learn and improve.
- Coordinate Logistics: Prepare and manage logistics for events, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring smooth execution.
- Develop Impactful Case Stories: Assist in researching and writing compelling case stories. When we interview participants to collect case studies, we help them reflect, learn and plan their next steps, so that as we collect stories, we empower and inspire them.
- Innovate Campaign Ideas: Contribute ideas and initiatives for online campaign planning, and support the organization in the creation of both online and offline campaigns related to OCSE.
- Translate communication materials if necessary
- Assist in managing AusCam social media pages and implementing social media strategy;
- Participate in Collaborative Meetings: Attend and contribute to meetings (planning, development, presentations, debriefing) and conferences as assigned, sharing insights and fostering collaboration.
- Assist in communication trainings such as campaign incubators
- Follow up and Mentor or coach Change Agents and campaign groups.
- Demonstrate behaviours that reflect AusCam Freedom Project’s values and adhere to safety and child safe practices.
- Support Change Agent feedback and engagement to refine and develop workbooks, gamification approaches and other resources co created by AusCam and Change Agents
- Facilitate Change Agents to reflect in their progress and resilience using river of life, developmental storytelling, PMI and other reflection and learning tools
- Any other role requested by line manager
- Be an ambassador for AusCam in all activities.
Requirements
- Must be an inspiring young woman who is studying in university in year 1 - 4, or fresh graduate.
- Girls Leadership Council members and Change Agents are encouraged to apply
- Enthusiastic, optimistic and brings a positive energy and attitude to the job and to relations with the team and change agents
- Passionate about learning and transferring new knowledge to young women and girls
- Strong traits of accountability, integrity and sincerity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Khmer language
- English communication skills preferred
- Flexible and good team player
- Work at weekends and evenings is an essential part of this role, Monday is a holiday and evening work will be compensated for with time off in lieu
