Job offer: Child Welfare Specialist

Little Hearts is an organization dedicated to the emotional, physical, intellectual and educational wellbeing and development of abandoned children in Cambodia. We are currently looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Child Welfare Specialist in Phnom Penh.

THE POSITION

The position entails both pastoral and educational responsibilities. As a caretaker, you will help manage the daily routine at the orphanage, from getting the kids out of bed in the morning to helping with homework and supervising afternoon activities. One of your responsibilities will also be to teach them English by conducting language classes for about three hours each day, including preparing lesson plans, running interactive activities, evaluating progress, and being creative. The job is more than just being a teacher or a caregiver: you must become the kids’ mentor and be a resourceful problem solver.

This is a live-in position (Monday to Friday), so we provide accommodation, three meals a day, a competitive salary and additional benefits.

Requirements

• Applicants must be based in Phnom Penh, speak English fluently, and have relevant experience in education and/or residential care facilities.
• A strong personality and a track record of working with kids are required; creativity and a passion for helping children grow and thrive are a must. Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for school-age students (Grades 3 to 12) is highly desirable.
