Ta Library Assistant

We are now looking for qualified candidate to fulfill the position below:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The library assistant supports the mission of the ISPP Libraries program and increases access to library resources by providing clerical and technical assistance to the Teacher Librarian, teachers, students, and other library users. Reports to the Secondary Teacher Librarian through the Secondary Principal.
Duties
- Assist students and staff in locating and using materials in the library by answering questions, gathering materials, and demonstrating use of equipment and software.
- Perform general secretarial responsibilities including typing, filing, compiling statistics and assisting with financial records .
- Assist with the maintenance of the library catalog, including data entry and basic maintenance of records.
- Support the circulation of library materials and help students and staff use the self-checkout stations.
- Maintain the library collection; includes shelving books, reading shelves, adding and withdrawing items, mending and repairing items and assisting with inventory.
- Assist with the ordering and processing of materials and equipment.
- Help create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere
- Assist in maintenance of classroom management and provide discipline consistently following the expectations and standards of the secondary librarian
- Alert the supervising teacher and ISPP Maintenance staff to dangerous conditions with regards to the building and grounds
- Perform bus duty per schedule provided by the Transportation Department
Requirements
- High school diploma required, college degree preferred
- Flexible and willing to work outside of normal school hours, when necessary
- Basic communication skills to exchange information, give/receive simple instructions and respond to inquiries
- Must be able to read and interpret printed materials and follow standard operating policies and procedures
- Responsible for filing and retrieving books, periodicals, and other items stored within the Knowledge Centre
- Requires good customer service/people skills to appropriately interact with students and staff
- Be proactive and take initiative to solve routine problems
- Follow school dress standards, come to work on time and proactively participate in duties during the workday
- Follow all attendance and leave policies
- Be flexible about changes or modifications to work schedule, as the need requires
- Fluency and accuracy in English (oral and written)
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills
