Activity Background
REA is working with poor communities and youths to develop human resources and peace building between community members. In the past, REA has worked in both the health and education fields.
We have helped provided the opportunity for further classroom education through hands on courses on chicken raising and money generation. Teaching those students in the course the business of chicken raising, giving each family four chickens to begin with, in hopes of offering the students and their families a way to make more money, and allowing more children in that family to attend school.
REA has also work with a girls empowerment club and Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) initiative. This group worth with Grade 10-12 girls teaching them life skills. Following the course, these girls share their knowledge with local primary schools. They teach week long sessions on health topics such as hygiene (tooth brushing and hand washing), mosquito born illnesses and their prevention, and clean water.
We have also assisted in projects building easily accessible wells to community member who lack a consistent water source.
There are current plans to begin the building of a public library, off school grounds, and offer English courses to community members.
In the future we hope to continue these projects, and create new projects as the needs of the community develop.
