Women Peace Makers (WPM) is Cambodia’s leading organization working on issues of gender and peacebuilding. Founded in 2003, WPM envisions a peaceful and gender just society where everyone, regardless of identity and ability, can reach their full potential and live free from violence. Today’s WPM is the culmination of almost two decades of action and learning in the field with longstanding and well recognized history of intervening in violent situations for women in Cambodia and has developed a strong base of programming to raise awareness, empower women, and advocate for change in the community and conflict settings. WPM is grounded in its approach and community voices inform all of its continued learning and strategic directions. Currently, WPM works at the local level with grassroots communities, at the national level with civil society and key stakeholders, and at the regional level with other NGOs, universities and gender and peacebuilding networks in neighboring countries.

Purpose:
A crucial aspect of Gender Program Manager’s role is to manage, develop, and oversee the Gender Program contributing toward an inclusive gender justice society. The position will also be leading a gender sensitive initiative in the field of alternative dispute resolution with the subnational actors while also overseeing other exciting gender initiatives. The Gender Program Manager will serve as a member of the management committee and support the work of WPM towards achieving its core mission and in becoming a leading voice in the areas of gender and peace.
Duties
- Project Leadership Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective and timely implementation of all activities, including providing training, facilitation, and coaching to the targets, in line with the strategic objectives, logframe, work plan and within the budget approved
- Involved in problem solving and consultation of emerging issues that organization and communities face
- Ensure that all activities implemented within its scope of responsibility, including project expenditures, are transparent and made in accordance to WPM’s policies and in compliance with donor guidelines and requirements.
- Co-design and develop actions, initiatives, etc. including the proposal writing related to gender and women’s issues.
- Monitoring and Reporting Responsibilities
- Regularly monitor project/program progress and activities, to ensure that quality data is collected and relevant information for reporting analyzed accordingly
- Ensure project reports are produced and submitted on time
- Effectively and efficiently implement MEL system in accordance with WPM and donors requirements.
- Facilitation and Documentation Responsibilities
- Prepare, design, organize and facilitate skills training workshops on, such as, gender, feminism, gender sensitive mediation, legal and policy related knowledge, feminist leadership, diversity and identity issues, and related topics and meetings within and outside of Phnom Penh.
- Document and formulate creative and effective ways to present the programming results to target audiences
- Properly file and keep related project documentation in a chronological and easy-to-find system
- Partnership and Communication duties
- Maintain good relation with donors, partners, and target communities/ audiences to ensure that the project and WPM activities are running smoothly.
- Represent WPM in both national and international workshop, conference, meeting, and networking events.
- Other duties
- Resourcefully solves identified problems by implementing creative solutions as part of the management committee members.
- Work with and build team spirit to ensure programs operate effectively
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Understanding of and passionate about feminism and feminist principles
- Hold a BA or MA in related fields and knowledge in gender studies and law is a plus
- At least 5 years of related project management and leadership experience and equipped with excellent training, coaching, and facilitation skills related to women’s rights, legal/policy, feminism, leadership, mediation, and/or relevant topics
- Experience in managing others, including staff and/or volunteers, to carry out a project
- Strong organizational management skills
- Demonstrated skills in strategic planning, budgeting and donor relations
- Well-developed written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to work with a team as well as individually without much supervision
- Be a proactive fast learner and able to travel to the field and learn new things
- Demonstrated leadership ability, flexibility, and creative problem -solving skills
- Personable, with an excellent attitude and strong people skills
- No previous history of child abuse, crime, or sexual harassment
