Consultancy for Training of Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion

Job Presentation

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) together with the two Swiss NGOs, Caritas Switzerland and HEKS/EPER have developed the project “Nurturing Climate Resilience in Cambodia” (Nurture). In close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries through the General Department of Agriculture and the provincial departments of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology through Provincial Departments of Water Resources and Meteorology.

Nurture’s overall goal is to make vulnerable smallholder farming households and their communities more resilient to climate change and to increase their incomes through climate proofing of agro-ecosystems.

3 Outcomes of Nurture Project:

Outcome 1: Vulnerable smallholder farmers have increased yields and reduced climate risks through better and more stable access to water for irrigation.

Outcome 2: Vulnerable smallholder farmers and their communities and the private sectors, benefit from improved social accountability, planning and policies related to climate change adaptation.

Outcome 3: Vulnerable smallholder farmers adopt agro-ecological practices and diversify their sources of income.

Objectives and Outcomes of this proposal

This consultancy opportunity is expected to receive a comprehensive Technical and Financial Proposal for Training of Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) for Climate Resilient Agriculture.

The Training Proposal shall design responding to Training Objectives below:

  1. To improve knowledge of Nurture Project’s Stakeholders on Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion in the context of Climate Resilient Agriculture.
  2. To build skills for Stakeholders to have practical capacities to identify issues of gender equality, diversity and social inclusion that happening in Nurture target area. So, Stakeholders could initiate solutions against those issues.
  3. To provide guidelines and tools for Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion mainstreaming in Climate-resilient agriculture which helps participants to improve gender interventions and activities.

Expected Outcomes of the Training are:

After attending Training of Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) for Climate Resilient Agriculture context, participants will:

  1. Gain more knowledge on Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion in the context of Climate Resilient Agriculture.
  2. Be equipped with guidelines and tools to achieve Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion. So, the guidelines and tools could be used by Nurture’s Staff and Stakeholders responding to Gender Inequality and issues of Social Inclusion when implementing Agricultural project activities.
  3. Receive practical methodologies to address Gender Inequality, Diversity and Social Inclusion in public and private sectors.
  4. Increase their attention and be able to propose Gender and Social Inclusion mainstreaming activities, initiate Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion strategies.
  5. Learn successful experiences of Gender Equality, Diversity and Social Inclusion to build on for Nurture Project.

Requirements

  • The proposal for this assignment, Consultant has required qualification criteria:
  • A Master’s degree in gender, social science, agriculture, rural development or equivalent
  • Sound experience with gender in Northwest Cambodia
  • Knowledge and experiences on GEDSI in a particular context of Agriculture and Climate Resilient project.
  • Knowledge and experiences on GEDSI for strategies to mainstream in Public/governmental sectors.
  • Knowledge and experiences on GEDSI for strategies to mainstream in Private sectors and supply chains.
  • Capacity to deliver Objectives and Expected Outcomes listed above in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated training and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English and Khmer.
  • *Training Materials are required to be in two languages, English and Khmer.
  • *Training is expected to roll out in Khmer language, so Training methodology to fit with Khmer people is a bonus.
  • *Trainer/consultant(s) are responsible for their own VAT/taxes, travel cost, insurance, expenses and per diems.
